RV Portable Solar Panels

If you are heading out of town on a much coveted road trip or have decided to ditch the stagnant one place lifestyle for good a RV (Recreational Vehicle) which runs or at least takes some help from solar panels is a very useful thing to have. Any kind of short term or long term usage can really use a renewable energy source that costs nothing to sustain itself. It goes without saying however that initial installation costs can be quite a handful but if you really gear it towards your RV by analyzing every aspect, you will ultimately save money on costly generators.

Pros

• The solar panels generate free electricity on your RV as it is moving or if it is parked. One point to bear in mind is to always park your RV where the sun can hit it naturally. The energy produced is completely green and clean and will help reduce the impact of our carbon footprint on the environment. RVs are not the only vehicles which are now turning to solar power as the solution of the future.

• Depending on the size and the number of solar panels you have installed you can generate enough electric power to supplement the engine as well as power several appliances at once. The power is generated during the day and stored in a battery for use at night.

• You can opt for cheaper solar panels (as virtually all of them are portable) which are the amorphous solar panels although they do produce less energy and might have the aesthetic appeal of their more expensive counterparts. They do however work better in colder climates which balances out their drawbacks.

• There is no maintenance required just the usual cleanup to make sure that your panels are not covered with dirt or mould because that affects the end power output.

Standard Portable RV Solar Systems

The components that are usually provided by most manufacturers are as follows:-

• The designated number of solar panels you have opted for with their chosen design and material. It is recommended to use a minimum of two solar panels for basic power generation and it can revamped to several and more expensive versions such as the monocrystalline ones can be used which are extremely efficient and produce large quantities of power.

• A charge controller is necessary no matter which type of solar powered system you are going for. The charge controller essentially regulates the battery making sure no damage comes to it and that it remains in a state of optimal charge at all times.

• The output cable is necessary for connecting your panels to a power storage device such as a battery or using it to power your mobile home.

• A special roof flush mount is used for installing these systems on the top of RVs. It hoists the panels up and helps attach them into place so they keep put no matter what weather conditions you run into on your journey.
